FORM A CHAPTER TODAY
e goal of a RETA Chapter is to enable people with the
involved in meeting the RETA mission statement A Chapter meeting is also a way to receive and provide both theoretical and practical education; it’s a place for peer-to-peer interaction; it’s how to build resources with others in the same eld; and it creates a great sense of fellowship. Your rst step is to contact RETA. Inform the Chapter Relations Manager, Dan Denton, that you are interested in forming a local Chapter of RETA. As a professional, you probably know numerous other professionals like yourself who would be interested in the bene ts of a Chapter. If you are new to the area, the Chapter. Get two or three people who share your enthusiasm and goals to assist you in the creation of the local Chapter. ese members may be the founding o cers of the new Chapter. Contact local RETA members and students. is can be done by telephone or by mail, however, the Association recommends that you rst identify individuals or members you
same interests to come together regularly to share their experience and encourage each other in the industrial refrigeration profession. Forming a Chapter is not a di cult process, but it is a process which requires commitment. It also requires industrial refrigeration professionals who agree with RETA’s mission “to enhance the professional development of industrial refrigeration operating and technical engineers.” Without this commitment an e ective Chapter cannot exist. If there is not a Chapter in your region, you should consider starting one. Perhaps you were previously active in a RETA Chapter. If you’ve recently moved, and there is no Chapter in your area, you know how much you’ve lost. First and foremost, it’s a way to be personally and actively
already know. Contact them and ask them to participate in the formation of the new Chapter. Schedule and hold an organizational meeting. Decide upon a structure. What o cers you will have and who they will be. Determine the initial goals of the Chapter. What do you want to accomplish for your rst year? Set-up a system for record keeping and accounting, and complete the petition for charter of a new RETA Chapter. Don’t worry about doing everything right away. Chapters grow and develop. e important thing is to start. e RETA Chapter Relations department stands ready to assist any members in starting a local Chapter.
