2019 RETA Breeze Sept-Oct
candidates learn to use them. It also includes the following resources that appear in the on-screen references during each CIRO examination. • Formulas that might be needed to interpret or compute information on the job • Theoretical Discharge Charts for PSIG and PSIA • Excerpts from an Enthalpy Diagram and a Psychrometric chart • Operating system and electrical diagrams that support questions on the test • Troubleshooting system screens that support questions in the test • An Ammonia Safety Data Sheet (SDS) • Ammonia and HCFC-22 Saturated Properties tables The CRST Study Guide adds charts and information to help candidates prepare for Service Technician exams. The CRST Study Guide provides an SDS, trouble- shooting screens, electrical diagrams, applicable formulas and refrigerant tables. These are available in on-screen references during the CRST examina- tion. Candidates who do not use the CRST Study Guide to become familiar with these resources before the test are at a significant disadvantage when they take the examination. The CRES Study Guide provides a references data sheet for energy-relat- ed issues, a chapter on possible lighting system efficiencies, an SDS, troubleshooting screens and refriger- ant tables. All except the lighting system section are available on-screen during the CRES examination.
All RETA study guides include sample screens and information to help navigate the on-screen references during each test. Candidates can adjust how much of the screen shows questions and the on-screen refer- ences by sliding a vertical line from side to side. Information also is provided about using the PDF toolbar to locate sources, expand images, and navigate through the on-screen references during the test. Candidates may purchase unproctored online CARO and CIRO Practice Tests to help them prepare for each RETA exam. They can see references as they will appear on-screen during the tests and learn how to navigate these references. CARO and CIRO Practice Tests are available for $59 per attempt. Many candidates take these Practice Tests multiple times as they prepare for their credentialing exams. Each Practice Test includes questions similar to those that appear in CARO or CIRO exams. All Practice Test questions have been “retired” from the active pool of questions that appear in RETA credentialing exams. CRES and CRST candidates also can benefit because the same types of questions appear in each RETA certification test. CRES and CRST include more advanced content to reflect the higher demands of each credential, but the CARO and CIRO Practice Tests are available to help all candidates prepare for their RETA credentialing examinations. We welcome your questions about RETA’s credentialing exams and activities. Send your questions by email to Dan Reisinger at dan@reta.com.
