RETA practice tests allow CARO, CIRO and CRST candidates to become familiar with the types of questions on each test and to improve their skills using onscreen references. Practice tests are about half the length of each credential’s full exam. Practice test questions do not appear in a full-length RETA credentialing examination. Each practice test includes questions from every content area in the full exam. Score reports for each practice test also tell candidates which content areas they should study more to help them earn their RETA credential. While there is no guarantee, many candidates earn a RETA credential after taking practice tests to help them prepare. Remotely proctored exams are observed by Kryterion staff and recorded so that RETA can review what occurred after a test is finished. RETA’s remotely proctored exams must meet the same test security requirements that apply in KTN and RETA Network test centers. These precautions contribute to RETA candidates achieving nearly the same passing scores and pass rates in remotely proctored exams as those who use Kryterion and RETA Network test centers.

RETA has worked diligently to expand options for CARO, CIRO and CRST candidates who have limited access to an operating test center by allowing them to earn their credential by testing at home or at work. Onsite-proctored test centers are attractive when one is open nearby, but many candidates are more than a two-hour drive from the nearest open test center. Candidates must qualify to take CARO, CIRO or CRST first. RETA charges no additional fees to take a remotely proctored exam.
