The initial year in the cycle includes a site visit and thorough review by two assessors new to the program. This is followed by annual reports, desk audits and onsite reviews during the five-year cycle until the program begins a new five-year cycle. Currently there are just 83 CBs that meet ANSI 17024-2012 Standards in the world. RETA is the only program in industrial refrigeration on that list. Just 16 CBs offer five or more credentials. The

Many candidates and employers ask RETA staff to explain the fundamental difference between holding a RETA certification compared to another credential. The first answer is that only RETA offers internationally accredited programs in industrial refrigeration, but more information is needed to know why that should matter. The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) has accredited 83 Certifying Bodies (CBs) under ANSI 17024-2012 Standards. ANSI 17024 was first introduced in 2003. CARO and CIRO met ANSI 17024 Standards in 2008. RETA’s service technician program (CRST) was
