EDUCATION CORNER

To all Members from the Education Coordinator: As winter and spring pass and we move toward summer I am happy to report the following: 1. The IR-I Review is complete, and the updated version will be in the store later this summer as the current supply of books is gone. 2. IR-II is coming to the end of its review and will be in print before the conference. Further good news in this book is that the fold out Mollier Chart will be reintroduced to the book after the existing supply is gone. Even though it is not up for review, we have had some issues brought to our attention and that combined with the fact we have a great team already to go (the IR-I and IR-II team) we have decided to move forward with an early review of IR-III. This should also be complete before Conference. 4. The RSES Introduction to HVACR Book is complete and has been sent to the Executive team for approval. Thanks to Jayson Goff, CMS and the RSES team! 5. The Energy Efficiency book that was completed and ready to move to print, also had some issues regarding formatting. These have been fixed, and it is ready to go into print as soon as we deplete the current supply. 3. IR-III is going into review in June.

6. Work is continuing with the CO 2 rewrite. It has been decided that the old version of the book which is being rewritten will be broken down to an introduction to CO 2 , as either a standalone book or introductory chapters to the Commercial and Industrial CO 2 books. More to come with a hope that the introductory book or chapters being complete by conference. committee to be updated to the new regulations and should be in print before conference. 8. BE-I and BE-II are undergoing some small fixes and should be updated before conference. 9. Both IR-I and the RSES Introduction to HVACR books that are in final Board approved this process, and the Spanish committee has researched translation companies and selected two companies, one for the IR-I book and one for the RSES book—both will be translated and for sale by the end of this year, if not sooner. 10. The LMS is always a work in progress, with issues being addressed as we go through the year, please send any issues to me as soon as you see them and we will get them fixed. 7. The Compliance book is back in formatting for print in English will also be translated to Spanish. The

12. No time has been set but we would also like to plan an RAI meeting before the Annual Conference. 13. Then one final project to report on is my most sincere hope that we at the very least start a review and possible rewrite of the Control Theory Books before the end of the year. There is more, but those are the highlights of a very productive year to this point, and I would be amiss if I didn’t give a huge Thanks to RETA Education Committee Chairman Don Tragethon; the RSES Committee Chairman Jayson Goff; our great partner and friend on the RSES side, Lori Schiavo; and the Committee Members from both RETA and RSES. Many have said how much they have enjoyed the work this year. As much as I am happy to hear that, I know the only reason this is true is because when great people are allowed to do great things, great things happen. Thank you all for everything you do!

Blessings! Scott Melton
