2023 Nov-Dec RETA Breeze

RETA TESTING CORNER NO. 39

RETA has operated a test center for candi dates at each onsite annual conference since 2008. This enabled 27 candidates to earn RETA credentials in Jacksonville, Florida in November. They included 12 CARO, 10 CIRO, two CRST, two CRES and one RAI candidate. All deserve congratulations for this achieve ment. Twenty of the 27 candidates who earned credentials in Jacksonville did so on their first attempt. A total of 46 exams were taken in Jacksonville. RETA provides study guides and practice tests to assist every candidate as they prepare to earn these credentials. RETA takes an extra step during the annual conference. All candidates who fail a RETA exam during the annual conference receive a perfor mance review that informs them of content areas on which they need to improve to pass on a later attempt. These reviews include all past attempts to earn that RETA credential. All RETA candidates may ask for more detailed reviews on their exams. Those who fail an exam at the annual conference automati cally receive this review and may use it to help them prepare to retake an exam at the conference. CARO, CIRO, CRST and CRES are designed with a minimum passing total score of 70%. Score reports give candidates scores in each content area on the test. It is not necessary to score over 70% in every content area as long as a candidate’s total score is at least 70% RETA Authorized Instructor (RAI) requires a minimum passing score of 80%. All RETA exams are designed to mirror the tasks and skills required to manage indus trial refrigeration systems and facilities safely and efficiently. Knowing when to consult an SDS, manuals or technical specifications can save time, resources, and lives on the job. Proper use of PT tables, formulas and info- rmation about system operations are essential to keeping operators, technicians, and other employees safe. These skills also are part of performing well on each RETA exam.
