RETA 2024 National Conference
115th National RETA Conference I’d like to welcome each of you to the 115th National RETA Conference! The week of October 21st is filled with great opportunities and an exciting conference program. We have an exceptional combination of technical papers, hands-on workshops, manufacturer-specific workshops, and hot point sessions. As always, we are kicking off the Conference with review courses for CARO, CIRO, CRST, and CRES along with a Train the Trainer course. Certification testing is available during the week so if you haven’t signed up to take your exam, please contact Samantha at samantha@reta.com and schedule yours today. We can’t wait to celebrate those who earn a new certification at Conference. The Conference is a time for members to get together and reconnect with old friends and make new friends along the way. Our intention is to connect and educate great minds from across all levels in the refrigeration industry. We created a Conference for all of those in the profession — a Letter from the RETA Exectutive Director
Conference that would be more than an event — an experience intended to carry beyond 2024…something like a family reunion. While you are here, please take advantage of attending as many sessions as you can and earn the maximum PDHs available for the week. Refer to the Conference program for all educational sessions, events, and exhibition hours. This information is also available on the Conference App which allows you to have all the same information at your fingertips. RETA’s goal at our National Conference is education but we can’t meet that goal without adding in the 3 f’s…fun, fellowship, family. Join us Monday October 21st for an afternoon of networking at Top Golf and an evening out at the Circle R Ranch which will be a hootin’ and hollering good ol’ time. On Wednesday October 23rd we have our “sip and dip” mix and mingle followed by our Awards Night featuring Grant Price, a magician and mentalist. If you haven’t

received your ticket for the Awards Night, please stop by registration. This Conference brings together those in the industry for an experience that reflects what the future looks like: collaborative, innovative, educational, and constantly moving forward. Your presence here is an indication that you are committed to making a positive difference, not only in your facility or organization, but your neighborhood, state, and country. Our dedication to ensuring you have the tools and knowledge needed to work safely and is why we remain the Gold Standard in Industrial Refrigeration Certification. A heartfelt thank you to the RETA staff and Conference Committee for making this event possible. If The Conference is a time for members to get together and reconnect with old friends and make new friends along the way. “
we didn’t have the commitment and dedication of the hard-working volunteers on our committees, activities such as this awesome Conference wouldn’t be possible. I can’t thank you all enough. Before I close, I’d like to thank each of you for attending our Conference and bringing your expertise to our gathering. You, as organization leaders, have the vision, the knowledge, the wherewithal, and the experience to help us pave our way into the future. You are truly our greatest asset today and tomorrow, and we could not accomplish what we do without your support and leadership. Throughout this Conference, I ask you to stay engaged, keep us proactive, and help us shape the future of Industrial Refrigeration. My personal respect and thanks, go out to all of you.

President's Message
howdy pardner, welcome to our conf’rence Greetings RETA family and welcome to the 2024 RETA Conference here in beautiful Grapevine, Texas. Or should I have said, in my best John Wayne
you’ll receive an update on all things RETA. There may even be some exciting news…. Join us Wednesday evening for our annual awards night followed by some great entertainment with a magician & mentalist. But the real reason we are here is to fulfill RETA’s mission statement to “Enhance the professional development of industrial refrigeration operating and technical engineers.” The week will be filled with our Gold Standard review courses and certification testing. We’ll have incredible educational opportunities to obtain your PDH’s during the Hands-On, Hot Point sessions, and workshops all presented by industry professionals. Climb on up, cinch up that rope, open the chute, and let’s go; this is going to be one terrific rodeo!
impression, “howdy pardner and welcome to our little conf’rence”? Each year as I enter the venue for the first time I’m filled with excitement and anticipation, this year will be no exception as we once again have a sold out show floor and a full educational program. I cannot express enough gratitude to the RETA HQ staff and volunteers who have invested countless hours to make this, what I’m sure will be the best conference yet. As usual, we’ll have our TopGolf outing on Monday for a networking lunch while playing fun golfing games. Monday evening, we have our night out at the Circle R Ranch for some armadillo racing, BBQ, and line dancing. Who knows, maybe you can get your picture with a real Texas Longhorn. Tuesday we’ll hold our Business Meeting / General Session where

Letter from the Chairperson
Greetings and a warm welcome, RETA Family and Friends, to the much anticipated 2024 RETA National Conference at the Gaylord Texan Resort. It is always such a blessing to see my RETA family providing so much energy and enthusiasm each year at Conference and I am already feeling its presence this year. I am confident it will be a GREAT experience for all. After all, “Everything Is Bigger in Texas!” One thing that I personally look forward to each year is witnessing firsthand the collaborative spirit of our RETA HQ staff, RETA membership, sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers that do all they can to make sure everyone has the absolute best RETA experience while also providing incredible learning opportunities our annual conference is known for. RETA has already kicked off with our always well attended CARO, CIRO, CRST, CRES Review Courses, Train the Trainer, and Management of Change workshop. It is an incredible
experience to participate in a review course at a conference with amazing instructors. In addition to the certification review courses this year, I am pleased to announce the IIAR 6 Certificate Course was offered and well attended. The operator and technician learning opportunities available this year are truly as “Big as Texas”. At this point in my address, I am very HUNGRY. Which brings me to TOPGOLF! A great lunch to establish new friendships through networking and fun. Now, that is a business lunch I can really swing into. Monday Evening out event was at Circle R Ranch. I know we have some genuine and urban cowboys in our membership that can take a 1,500-pound bull for 8 seconds but settled digging the spurs in on the mechanical bull. It was a “boot scootin’ boogie time.”
Tuesday begins with the always entertaining RETA Rumble for breakfast and then lunch at our

“
RETA has already kicked off with our always well attended CARO, CIRO, CRST, CRES Review Courses, Train the Trainer,
as it is always updated to reflect any changes in the schedule providing the most up to date conference news and information. In addition to the multitude of training and educational opportunities available, you also have a fantastic opportunity to meet with manufacturers and contracting professionals that provide our industry with innovative technology in the exhibitor hall. We really could not do this without our corporate family, so please stop by each booth and learn about what they do. I thank each one for their continued support of RETA. I also want to thank Jim Barron, Stephanie and the HQ Team; Jim Kovarik and the Conference committee for their hard work and dedication to making this year’s conference a Big Texas Success. Have a GREAT Conference Experience and God Bless You All.
and Management of Change workshop.
annual RETA Business Meeting. I hope you can attend as this year we will be having an important (I do not say this lightly) vote that requires membership approval. We will also be approving our national officers at this time as well. As an added benefit, RETA will buy your breakfast and lunch just for attending. After the business meeting on Tuesday, the conference will be in full swing providing all the educational opportunities and enjoyment that is associated with great technical presentations, Hot Point presentations, and Hands-On Training sessions that you will find listed in the conference app. If you have not downloaded the app, please take a moment to do so
