2021 RETA Breeze Jan-Feb

This was followed by a REDWHITEandCOOL update presented by President Teale. The RedWhite and Cool program is designed to assist retiring veterans in acquiring their CARO certifications and assisting in job placement as they exit the armed forces. President Teale reported a delay due to COVID-19. Themeeting then proceeded to newbusiness. 1st was the committee assignments. Per our bylaws, the incoming president appoints the national committee chairpersons. Each Committee also has a Liaison assigned from the Executive Committee. The Liaison is responsible for bringing any needs or actions from the committees to the Executive Committee ultimately assuring the need is put before the Board of Directors. For 2021 the chairpersons and Liaisons are:

Director Lape was appointed to be the RETA Chaplin. Executive Director Barron was assigned the additional duty of Industry Relations Liaison. Past President KennyWilliams and Chairman of the Board Sanderson were assigned historian duties. Don Chason was assigned the position of Breeze Executive Director. Chairman of the Board Sanderson was assigned the duties of “Nuclear Football Captain”. The Nuclear Football Captain is a great concept, President Teale said that a need to assure a plan was in place in case of a severe upset in RETA activities. The RETA bylaws outline the steps to be taken in case of the loss of a president, national officer or Director. There is also an option to assemble the past presidents as an advisory board. The Nuclear Football outlines immediate steps to keep the organization operating and to fulfill the duties to our membership until a permanent solution can be implemented. President Teale distributed a new committee check-in form. The form is designed to allow the committees to communicate to the President in an organized fashion. The form has areas for: work in progress; Item status (progressing as expected, progressing slower than expected, progress has stopped); target completion dates; HQ support needed; and Board of Directors support needed. The last order of business was a membership report by committee chairman Hawkins. Membership is slightly up this month. Our current roster has 6,490 members. Chaplin Lape motioned to adjourn the meeting. Director Johnson seconded the motion. There was no further discussion and the motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 3:34 PM PST. January 20, 2021 Vice President Harper called the meeting to order at 3:01 PST. Chaplain Lape conducted a very inspiring opening invocation.

Director Ellena motioned to approve the November 18, 2020 Board Meeting Minutes. A second was given by Treasurer Lepschat. There was no further discussion and the motion passed with one abstention from Director Reece, who was unable to attend the November meeting. The treasurer’s report was presented by Executive Director Barron. RETA will close 2020 with a very good year financially. Chairman of the Board Sanderson noted excellent fiscal responsibility on the part of RETA HQ. He also noted the extreme vigor of Sara Louber, who fiercely attacks overcharges and seemingly has coupons for everything. The HQ report, presented by Executive Barron, noted that things have been steady and quiet at HQ. Hiring is needed, but can be postponed until national issues settle down somewhat. Executive Director Barron reported on the progress of the Ammonia Awareness Video. EXCOM has finished their edits of the video script. The script is now going to the Board of Directors for review, modification and hopefully, approval at their February meeting. The upcoming SWOT meeting was discussed. President Teale has scheduled several special meetings of the Board of Directors at least two of which will be devoted to our SWOT updates. Another newmeasure implemented by President Teale is more frequent committee reports. The January meeting was the first scheduled report from all of the committee Chairs. President Teale presented the Certification Committee report.
